Amber previously worked at a busy medical practice before joining us in 2016. Amber is responsible for the financial management of our practice and for ensuring our days run smoothly for both patients and staff.

Kirsty is usually the first person you meet when you walk through our door. Kirsty has been with our practice since 2014 and looks after our patient scheduling system and front office administration work. Kirsty is always welcoming and will do her best to schedule appointments to suit your needs.

Sally started at our practice in 2011. Keen to keep learning and extend herself Sally undertook training through the New Zealand Dental Association and qualified Dental Chairside Assistant. This then enabled her to commence training as an Orthodontic Auxiliary. Sally is always willing to help and is supportive and respectful to patients and staff alike.

Gayelene, our longest standing member of staff, started with us in 2008. Gayelene enjoys all aspects of Chairside Assisting but especially likes helping younger patients when they first start treatment with removable appliances. Gayelene also makes and fits most of our removable retainers.

Our youngest employee and also Susan’s daughter. Jasmine is a student at Orewa College and works mainly during the school holidays. Jasmine is learning all aspects of Orthodontic Chairside Assisting.

Our friendly team is committed to providing you with the very best orthodontic care. Good communication is essential for this to occur.
We pride ourselves on ensuring you are well informed about you or your child’s treatment and we are happy to answer any questions.
Our staff are well trained and keep up to date with the latest techniques and technology through in-house training and attending orthodontic courses and conferences.
Several of our staff members have had children of their own undergo orthodontic treatment. They are therefore well qualified to give you advice on what to expect when you or your child has braces.

Dr Susan Carpenter
Susan Carpenter commenced her dental training at Otago University where she completed a Bachelor of Dental Surgery degree graduating as a dentist in 1991.
Susan worked for five years as a Dental House Surgeon in hospital departments in New Zealand and then in the United Kingdom gaining experience in oral and maxillofacial surgery. In 1996, Susan left the hospital environment and worked for two years in general dental practice.
Susan was fortunate to be accepted on to the highly competitive three year orthodontic training course at Guys Hospital in London becoming a specialist orthodontist in 2001.
A further two and a half years experience was gained in orthodontic practice in London before Susan returned to New Zealand. Impressed with the lifestyle available in Orewa, Susan decided to settle and started working here in 2004.
Susan is a member of the New Zealand Association of Orthodontists (NZAO), Member of the New Zealand Dental Association, Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and a member of the British Orthodontic Society.
Susan lives locally with her husband and two daughters and likes gardening, keeping fit and spending time with her family.
